No peace with Putin: Poroshenko calls for more weapons, NATO membership for Ukraine
Petro Poroshenko has presented his Victory Formula for triumph over Putin to the Conservative Party conference (the party in power in the UK)
This was reported by the website of the European Solidarity party.
"What do we need? More weapons. This is a different type of war - it is a war of drones, aviation, means of electronic warfare, high-precision long-range missiles, and artillery. And Great Britain is showing leadership in this," Poroshenko said.
He also emphasized the importance of strengthening sanctions and a full embargo on Russian goods and raw materials.
"It is necessary to stop Russian exports around the world. 80% of Russian exports go through commercial vessels, and we must make a fundamental decision and stop it. The third key is the Marshall Plan for the reconstruction of Ukraine," Poroshenko believes.
The 5th president called Ukraine's quick membership in NATO and the EU one of the main priorities.
"Now Ukraine is the most Euro-optimistic nation in the world. 93% of Ukrainians support integration into the EU. And 82% support integration into NATO," Poroshenko said.
"Is NATO strong enough? Did NATO save us in 2014? Is NATO an "umbrella" for Europe under Article 5? Answer for yourself. Now Ukraine is an "umbrella" for Europe from the crazy maniac Putin. Ukraine is paying the highest price for this. And I think that Ukraine is paying for the right to be a member of NATO," the 5th president emphasized.
"I am proud that I, as president, together with my team that voted for it, changed the Ukrainian Constitution. And now Ukraine must become a member of NATO as soon as possible," Petro Poroshenko urged.
"So the shortest path to peace is weapons, NATO, the Marshall Plan, sanctions, and "deputinization" of the world. There will be no peace with Putin. We need "deputinization" of both Europe and Russia. We, Ukrainians, show how to do it," Poroshenko stressed.
