No negotiations with Russia until it withdraws from occupied territories in Ukraine - Rishi Sunak
The prime minister of Great Britain has emphasized that it is impossible to agree to negotiations with the Kremlin, until it leaves the seized territories in Ukraine
He said this during a speech at a meeting of the leaders of the United Kingdom's Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) in Latvia.
"We must be clear that any unilateral call for a ceasefire by Russia is completely meaningless in the current context.... It would be used by Russia to regroup, to reinforce their troops and until they have withdrawn from conquered territory, there can and should be no real negotiation ", said Sunak.
The British prime minister noted that the Ukrainians demonstrated: thanks to their determination, Putin realizes that he cannot win on the battlefield. And now he is intensifying the conflict, causing terrible consequences for the people of Ukraine.
Rishi Sunak also called for more military aid to Ukraine in accordance with the requirements of the current situation.
"That means more air defence systems, it means artillery, it means armoured vehicles," he added.
He also stressed the need to focus on degrading Russia's ability to regroup and resupply, which means going after its supply chains and removing international support."
"I think our collective resolve is clear and we have and will continue to support Ukraine. And that is first and foremost because their security is our security," added Sunak.
