Serhiy Zgurets' materials are reliable, free of manipulation: Espreso on controversy around publication on outdated mine procurement
In response to a comment from the Defense Procurement Agency, Espreso denies claims that Serhiy Zgurets' material on the procurement of World War II-era anti-tank mines is unreliable
The Espreso editorial office received an official request from the Defense Procurement Agency to provide evidence of an advertising agency’s proposal to remove Serhiy Zgurets' material from the website. Correspondence related to this was shared with the agency.
The Defense Procurement Agency denied any involvement in attempts to influence the editorial policy of Espreso.tv or any financial offers to take down the article and has referred the incident to law enforcement for investigation. This was reported in a statement on the agency's Facebook page.
At the same time, the agency’s post claimed that the information in Serhiy Zgurets' article is unreliable.
The Espreso edtorial team appreciates the agency’s swift response and willingness to address the situation, but we disagree with the claim that Serhiy Zgurets' materials are unreliable. The author relies on informed sources, which he has the right to withhold.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the Defense Express team, led by Serhiy Zgurets, has provided high-quality expert analysis widely cited in international media.
Serhiy Zgurets' publications include professional assessments, adhere to journalistic standards, and contain neither inaccuracies nor manipulative conclusions.
“Zgurets' materials address critical issues and often point to corruption risks in defense procurement. One example is another notable publication by Zgurets about procurement through the border service: none of the facts presented there were refuted,” commented Espreso’s general producer, Anastasia Ravva.
