Russia can sustain war: Budanov predicts key decisions in 2025
Despite economic regression, Russia may hold on until 2025, when state-level decisions about a full wartime economy will become unavoidable
He stated this in an interview broadcast during a telethon.
"Unfortunately, Russia is capable (of continuing the war, - ed.). At the current scale, it is capable. The Russian economy is slowly regressing. But, as I said earlier, in 2025, we will definitely observe Russia's economy and financial sector approaching a critical point," Budanov said.
He emphasized that this will not result in the collapse of Russia.
"This is the threshold after which they will need to make serious, systemic decisions at the state level. Until then, it will be difficult for them, but they will hold on. After that, they will have to make significant decisions. Yes, they could fully transition to a wartime economy. But whether they want to do so is a big question," added the head of Ukrainian Intelligence.
