Reconstructing faces of military and civilians: US surgeons performed 9 operations in Lviv
The Lviv Regional Hospital for War Veterans and the Repressed named after Yuriy Lypa hosted the second Reconstruction2.0 mission for Ukrainian defenders and civilian patients
This was reported on the website of the Lviv Regional Council.
During their stay, foreign specialists, together with Lviv doctors, conducted 14 consultations and 9 surgeries. The interventions concerned reconstructive plastic surgery on the face after mine-blast wounds.
Volodymyr Vovk, the curator of the US-Ukraine Reconstruction 2.0 mission, and maxillofacial surgeon, thanked his American colleagues for their great help and the good work they had been doing together these days.
‘Together we have learned and practiced new techniques in facial reconstructive and plastic surgery. We also held a lecture for students, interns, and doctors on the topic of craniofacial trauma,’ the statement said.
According to the doctors, a third mission is planned for spring 2025 to provide assistance to Ukrainian defenders and civilians.
