Poland to set up commission to investigate influence of Russia, Belarus on country's politics
Poland has prepared a bill that will establish a Sejm commission to investigate the influence of Russia and Belarus on the country's political life
This was announced by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Poland Donald Tusk at a press conference in Warsaw, Ukrinform reports.
It is known that the Polish Minister-Coordinator for Special Services Tomasz Siemianiak has already prepared a relevant bill. According to Tusk, the state will continue to work on investigating the influence of Russia and Belarus on his country's policy in recent years.
"We will continue to talk about the influence of Russian and Belarusian intelligence services on public life and the situation in Poland in recent years. In particular, as I expected, Minister Siemoniak has prepared a bill that will establish an effective constitutional commission to investigate the influence of Russia and Belarus in previous years on what was happening in Poland," the Prime Minister said.
Tusk also noted that the situation on the border with Belarus would be another item on the commission's agenda.
The Polish prime minister had ordered at a previous meeting of the board on intelligence services to prepare a report on the influence of Russia's Russian and Belarusian intelligence services on the authorities of the Republic of Poland in previous years.
- On May 6, Poland opened proceedings for crimes under the article of the Criminal Code on working for foreign intelligence in the case of judge Tomasz Schmidt, who has applied for political asylum in Belarus.
- On May 9, a court in Poland deprived judge Tomasz Schmidt of his immunity and allowed the arrest of the judge of the Voivodeship Administrative Court, who is involved in the case of working for foreign intelligence and fled to Belarus.
