"Let them think they are safe": Ukrainian Navy on Russian warships in Novorossiysk
Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk said Novorossiysk remains the main basing point for the Russian Black Sea Fleet's missile carriers
He explained this on Espreso TV.
‘The situation with Russian missile carriers has remained largely the same for quite some time. And this situation is unlikely to change. One of the eight missile carriers is under repair. Three of them are submarine launch vehicles,’ Pletenchuk said.
According to the spokesman, Russian occupation forces are concentrating only supply ships in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
‘The only place where they can be more or less safe today is the basing point in Novorossiysk. This is at least in their opinion. They are also considering the political issue of another basing point for the Russian Black Sea Fleet. However, these other basing locations will not allow them to fully concentrate their own missile capabilities.
Temryuk in the Azov Sea is also not suitable for them as a launch site. The reason is that our weapons can get there without any problems. Therefore, all they have to do is to move their entire Black Sea Fleet to Novorossiysk. Yes, a certain number of ships remain in Crimea to provide support,’ he added.
- The Ukrainian Navy reported that as of Monday morning, September 9, the Russian occupation army is holding one ship in the Black Sea, which is a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles.
