Dmytro Sniehyriov, military expert and co-chairman of the Pravova Sprava NGO, noted that the main task of both the Belarusian and Russian sides is to create the preconditions for blocking the reserves of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which should instead be deployed to the main directions of the Russian offensive

He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.

"As for the Belarusian special forces pulling up to the border with Ukraine and the appearance of Kadyrov's mercenaries in the Kharkiv region, this is the tactic of the so-called thousand cuts. This means striking in several directions in order to distract the operational reserves of the Ukrainian General Staff and stretch the front line. Look, there is a simultaneous escalation on the auxiliary directions. Kharkiv direction - redeployment to Sumy direction with the threat of escalation, tension in the border area. And in fact, at the same time, there are reports of the relocation of Belarusian army units," the military expert noted.

According to him, Belarusians are hinting at the possibility of deploying units of the Russian armed forces, known as invasion contingents.

"So far, the redeployment of Russian troops in the territory of Belarus has not been recorded. Nevertheless, we are talking about pressure, primarily military, political and informational, with the aim of a possible breakthrough in this direction and a repetition of the events of February 2022. The length of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border is 1,000 km, so covering this section of the front will require significant reserves of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as a diversion of material and technical resources. The main task of both the Belarusian and Russian sides is to create the preconditions for blocking the reserves of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which should be used on the main directions of the Russian offensive, namely the Donetsk region," emphasized Dmytro Sniehyriov.

  • On June 21, Belarus began a sudden "inspection" of military units. For this purpose, they used training grounds and areas near the borders of Ukraine and Poland.
  • On June 24, the spokesman for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, said that the unannounced inspection of the combat readiness of the troops announced in Belarus does not pose a threat to Ukraine.
  • On June 29, the top military leadership of Belarus issued a new series of public statements about the alleged increase in threats from Ukraine's Zhytomyr region.
