Risks exist but are exaggerated: military expert on Iran supplying ballistic missiles to Russia
Serhiy Zgurets , military expert and Defense Express CEO, has stated that the transfer of ballistic missiles from Iran is likely to be influenced by backroom political pressure, making the likelihood of a delivery to Russia relatively low
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Bloomberg reports that Iran is planning to transfer a number of ballistic missiles with a range of up to 700 kilometers to Russia. This information was already mentioned last year. Although such risks exist, they are somewhat exaggerated. The current situation in Iran is quite complicated," Zgurets said.
According to the military expert, the Iranian leadership tried to plan strikes against Israel, which caused powerful international pressure on Tehran.
"I believe that Iran's transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia will be subject to backroom political pressure, and the likelihood of delivery is low. However, the risks remain. Iran is currently supplying Russia with Shahed drones. Therefore, the issue of strengthening air defense remains important in cooperation with international partners," Zgurets emphasized.
