Ukraine's General Staff reports 180 combat clashes, majority in Pokrovsk, Kurakhove sectors

On Wednesday, September 4, 180 combat clashes took place. The situation remained the most tense in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors of the Donetsk region

Over the past day, 180 combat clashes were recorded.

According to the updated information, yesterday Russia launched three missile attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas with 14 missiles, 72 air strikes, using, in particular, 100 KABs. In addition, it carried out more than 4,100 attacks, 107 of them were launched from multiple launch rocket systems.

Russia carried out air strikes in the areas of 3 settlements in Sumy region; 2 in Kharkiv region; 2 in Luhansk region; 12 in Donetsk region.

Yesterday, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces and artillery conducted six strikes on Russia's troop concentrations, two air defense facilities and two other important military targets.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian army continued offensive and assault operations. Two combat clashes took place there. All of them took place near Vovchansk. The occupying Russian forces were actively using UAVs for attacks.

In the Kupyansk direction, the number of attacks increased to 17 over the last day. The Ukrainian defense forces repelled all assaults near 5 settlements.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 27 attacks near 6 settlements.

In the Siversk direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces rebuffed four assault attacks. Russia tried to advance near Verkhniokamianske and Ivano-Darivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian servicemen stopped six attempts to break through their defense. Russian troops, with the support of aviation, focused their the main efforts in the area of Chasiv Yar and Kalynivka.

The invading Russian troops continued to actively operate in the Toretsk sector yesterday. In total, they attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 15 times near Nelipivka, Toretsk and New York. They also carried out air strikes with drones.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 52 assaults and attacks near 7 settlements, where Russian troops, with the support of aviation, tried to force Ukraine's units out of their positions. 

In the Kurakhove direction, the ukrainian Defense Forces stopped Russian troops' attacks near Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka and Krasnohorivka, where they tried to break through Ukraine's defense 46 times.

In the Vremivka direction, Russia launched four attacks on Ukrainian positions near Kostiantynivka and Vodiane.

In the Orikhiv direction, two combat clashes took place near Robotyne and Novoandriivka.

In the Kherson direction, Russian forces continue their attempts to drive the ukrainian Defense Forces units from their positions. Five Russian attacks were unsuccessful.

On the border with Belarus, the operational situation remains unchanged. No signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups have been detected.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue operations in the Kursk region.

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, Russian forces maintain a military presence, shelling settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and conducting sabotage and reconnaissance activities against Ukraine.

“Fighting continues along almost the entire contact line. Ukrainian soldiers are holding back enemy attacks. Our artillery, reconnaissance, aviation and unmanned systems are engaged in combat operations, depleting the enemy forces,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff writes.

  • Over the past day, the Russian army lost 1,390 soldiers in the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian forces destroyed 7 tanks and 43 drones.
