Medvedev's visit to China may indicate that he and Putin have some disagreements - diplomat Khandohiy
Volodymyr Khandohiy, diplomat, president of the Ukrainian Foreign Policy Association, believes that Xi Jinping used to meet exclusively with Putin, and now Medvedev's reception in China indicates a possible change in orientation between the leaders in the Kremlin
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
The diplomat commented on the December 21 meeting between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.
"I would not give much importance to this visit, because it took place within the framework of inter-party relations, as leaders of the ruling parties. It was not an official or state visit. On the one hand, in my opinion, Medvedev took the initiative with this visit, and he is trying to stay at the top levels of the Kremlin power, and on the other hand, we can hardly expect any results from this visit. There is also the following opinion that if Xi Jinping previously met exclusively with Putin, and it was the appropriate level, now Xi Jinping's reception of Medvedev suggests that he and President Putin may have some misunderstandings. Indeed, such a visit of Medvedev may indicate some possible change of orientation between the leaders in the Kremlin. This is my personal assumption," said the president of the Ukrainian Foreign Policy Association.
Volodymyr Khandohiy summed up that it was an inter-party visit and it did not bring any concrete results, because it could not bring.
