Kyiv authorities bracing for various scenarios, including a complete blackout
Authorities in Ukraine’s capital are preparing for various scenarios with electricity, including a complete power outage
Mykola Povoroznyk, the first deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration, said this in an interview with the "Kyiv" TV channel.
According to him, the authorities expect the worst case scenario, but have now switched to stabilizing power outages according to the schedule.
"We are preparing for various scenarios, including a complete blackout. But now we have moved to stabilization blackouts, the light will be turned off according to the schedule for no more than 4 hours," Povoroznyk said.
At the same time, the government official called on citizens to continue saving electricity.
"As temperature drops, electricity consumption increases significantly. Therefore, now more than ever, we need to save electricity. Because the increase in consumption can lead to emergency shutdowns if the system does not cope," he added.
