Kremlin says Nord Stream won't resume full operation until EU lifts sanctions on Russia
Spokesperson for Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, has said that the Nord Stream gas pipeline will only work at full capacity if the EU sanctions against Russia are lifted
This is reported by the Russian media.
According to Peskov, problems with the supply of gas to Europe arose because of sanctions against Russia.
"Problems in pumping arose due to sanctions imposed against our country and against a number of companies by Western countries, including Germany and the UK. There are no other reasons that would lead to problems with pumping," Peskov said.
When asked whether it is possible to resume the full operation of the Nord Stream in case of softening or complete cancellation of sanctions, he answered in the affirmative.
"Absolutely. The same sanctions that prevent the units from being serviced, that prevent them from being moved without appropriate legal guarantees, that prevent these legal guarantees from being provided, it is these sanctions that have brought the situation to what we see now," the Kremlin representative responded.
