Japanese Prime Minister invites Zelenskyy to the G7 summit - Nikkei
Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio invites Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to take part in the G7 summit online
This is reported by Nikkei publication.
The summit is to be held on May 19-21 in Hiroshima.
Newspaper states, Japan, as the presiding country of the Group of Seven, wants to create conditions for intensive discussions on Russia's war against Ukraine. And Zelenskyy's speech will acquaint the leaders of the G7 with the current situation.
It is noted that for Tokyo, coordination of G7 actions on this issue is an important step in preparing for a possible conflict over Taiwan. Japan believes, it will be directly involved in a conflict, and counts on China's prompt tough response together with the United States and Europe, similarly to what was done to Russia.
Except Ukraine, it is also planned to invite Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who presides over the G20 this year, and Indonesian President Joko Widodo to participate in the G7 summit.
