Ukraine needs to discard illusion that drones can replace artillery - military expert Zgurets
CEO of the Defense Express media and consulting company Serhiy Zgurets notes that it is impossible to replace artillery with FPV drones on the battlefield
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"We need to move away from the illusion that drones will replace artillery. In terms of power and operation in different weather conditions, artillery cannot be replaced. Attack company commanders using FPV drones also say that drones cannot replace artillery. We have to take their conclusions into account," emphasized Zgurets.
The CEO of the Defense Express media and consulting company also added that the Ukrainian military needs more than two million FPV drones a year.
"When we talk about the need for one million FPV drones, these figures are too low. According to certain estimates, 50 thousand FPV drones are produced per month. We have about 200 different companies that can produce drones. Some companies can make up to 10 thousand drones per month. The minimum demand for FPV drones is about 200 thousand per month. We should be talking about 2 million plus per year. This is the number required on the battlefield. And this sets the task for the number of Ukrainian Armed Forces operators to control these drones," explained Zgurets.
