"Glory to Ukraine!": UK PM congratulates Ukraine on Independence Day
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has congratulated Ukraine on the 31st anniversary of its Independence.
The video greeting was published on the Prime Minister's Twitter page.
"I have never doubted that Ukraine will win this struggle, because no power on earth can overcome the patriotism of 44 million Ukrainians. And no matter how long it takes, the United Kingdom will stand by Ukraine and provide all possible military, economic and humanitarian needs. One day, Ukraine will go through this test and a historic victory. And when that moment comes, and it will come, we in Britain will be proud to be friends of Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!" Johnson said.
He also reminded that the United Kingdom handed Ukraine about 7,000 anti-tank missiles and sheltered 100,000 Ukrainians.
In honor of Ukraine's Independence Day, Downing Street was decorated with sunflowers and blue and blue hydrangeas.
To the people of Ukraine on your Independence Day, I want you to know this: For however long it takes, the United Kingdom will stand with you.
