Ukraine's Air Force confirmed the information.

Sumy region

At 00:02 a.m., Suspilne reported an explosion in Sumy city.

Oleksiy Drozdenko, head of the Sumy city military administration, confirmed that residential buildings were struck during the Russian attack.

“The emergency response team will begin operations at 9 a.m. at School No. 27,” he stated.

Later, acting Sumy Mayor Artem Kobzar reported that one person had been injured and hospitalized.

The Sumy regional military administration added that Russian forces attacked a residential area in Sumy using a Shahed drone. While details are still being gathered, as of 02:26 a.m., civilian deaths have been confirmed. Emergency and rescue teams are on site.

At 06:25 a.m., another explosion was heard in the city, Suspilne reported. Minutes later, more explosions followed.

Kobzar reported that in the morning, Russian forces struck another residential building and targeted critical infrastructure.

He added that the details are being assessed.

"Three people, including a child, died as a result of drone strikes on residential buildings in the private sector of the city," Kobzar said.

At 08:11 a.m., another explosion occurred, followed by a second one two hours later.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Russia's attack on Sumy city and the region, which lasted all night and into the morning of October 22. He noted that in the Sumy region alone, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed more than 20 Shahed drones in a day.

“Unfortunately, with these strikes Russia took the lives of three people in Sumy, including a child. My condolences to the families and friends. There are some wounded. Everyone will be provided with the necessary assistance. All rescue services are involved. This Russian terror can be overcome only through unity with the world. Air defense and electronic warfare systems. Investments in weapons production in Ukraine. Long-range strikes on Russian military logistics, military airfields and bases of Russian troops. All this can protect against Russian terror if it is sufficient. Sufficient for life to defeat Russian aggression,” Zelenskyy added.

Dnipropetrovsk region

The regional military administration reported nighttime explosions in Dnipro city.

“Enemy attacks shattered windows and doors in two private homes. Nikopol was also hit. Since the evening, the Russians have targeted the area with kamikaze drones and artillery fire. They also used Grad systems to strike Nikopol, Pokrovske, Chervonohryhorivka, and Myrove communities,” stated regional military administration head Lysak.

He confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries.
