Russia is accumulating cruise missiles to strike at Ukraine's energy sector — military expert
Serhiy Zgurets, a military expert, suggested that Russia is likely waiting for temperature changes to maximize the impact of missile strikes on Ukraine's energy sector
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"There have been no Kh-101 launches for some time. We can assume that missiles are being accumulated for possible strikes on [Ukraine's] energy sector. Russia is likely waiting for certain temperature changes when this strike will be the most damaging. On the other hand, our air defence system is preparing for this, being aware of these risks and the Russians‘ approaches aimed at causing maximum damage to our energy sector," Zgurets said.
The military expert also noted that while Russia still has stocks of aircraft, the Tu-95MS is showing signs of wear and tear.
"There are problems with the engines, and this is a serious problem for Russia. They are trying to save flight time. However, they are trying to perform combat missions to launch Kh-101 cruise missiles. Russian bombers are taking off to conduct training missions. But it is clear that a training mission can turn into a combat mission at a certain stage," Zgurets said.
- Overnight and in the morning of 22 October, the Ukrainian defense forces destroyed 42 of the 60 drones launched by the Russian army to attack Ukraine.
- The Russian authorities postponed the order to their troops to regain full control of the Kursk region. They failed to meet the October 15 deadline, so a new deadline was set for February 1, 2025.
