Gift for Putin. Lithuania raises USD 250,000 for first Ukrainian sea drone
Lithuanians raised USD 250,000 as part of the initiative announced by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy to create a fleet of naval drones
This was announced by Lithuanian journalist Andrius Tapinas on Twitter, who previously raised funds for the Bayraktar drone for Ukraine.
"The Lithuanian people fundraised a gift for Putin and join this army, with $250,000 to buy the first such drone!" Tapinas wrote on Twitter.
Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov added on Telegram that the funds would be transferred through the United24 fundraising platform, and the Lithuanians would choose the name of the drone they financed.
On November 11, Zelenskyy announced the start of fundraising initiative for a fleet of marine drones.
As of Friday, funds were raised for the first drone. It is called "Kherson". This was announced by Zelenskyy in the evening address.
The length of such a drone is 5.5 metres, and the weight is up to 1000 kg. The drone's range is up to 400 km. The cost of one drone is UAH 10 million.
