FrankenSAM is air defense revolution: what technologies US is transferring to Ukraine
Defence Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi noted that the United States is transferring FrankenSAM technology to Ukraine to modernize and adapt Soviet air defense systems to Western missiles
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The FrankenSAM project involves the adaptation of Soviet air defense systems and missiles that may have already been used up to American ones, which may be quite sufficient. For example, the adaptation of Buk systems to AIM-7 missiles. These missiles will be able to shoot down Shahed UAVs, cruise missiles, or some target near the front line," Kyrychevskyi explained.
According to the military expert, the FrankenSAM project is an air defense revolution.
"The United States is transferring technology to us because it is not enough to have launchers, you also need to be able to maintain them. And that's why the Pentagon transferred these technologies. As part of FrankenSAM, we are receiving technologies worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The FrankenSAM project is an air defense revolution. No one has ever done a massive adaptation of American missiles to Soviet air defense systems," Kirichevsky emphasized.
