Clash between two Koreas is more realistic than possible attack on Taiwan - diplomat
Valeriy Chaly, diplomat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States (2015-2019), believes that the DPRK is preparing for war with South Korea and is using the territory of Ukraine as a training ground for improving its missiles
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
"Last year, the United States signed agreements with South Korea on additional actions and the deployment of American response capabilities on South Korean territory. In fact, South Korea is preparing for a possible confrontation. I will say this, in my opinion, today's military events have shown that a war on land, for countries such as Russia and North Korea, has its attractive aspects, because in conditions where you are not technologically superior, you can turn the war into a war of the previous century. Therefore, while everyone is talking about a possible attack on Taiwan, a clash between the two Koreas is more realistic," Valeriy Chaly said.
In his opinion, North Korea also has certain limits on the sale of weapons, although the DPRK has already given Russia its huge stockpiles in exchange for technology, according to the US.
"Today, the DPRK leadership is based on an exclusively militaristic concept. The power of the North Korean dictator is growing. Therefore, North Korea will make more warlike statements. Recently, the DPRK demonstratively demolished a monument to the possible unification of the Koreas, and also made changes to the way South Koreans are now considered enemies rather than compatriots. Obviously, this is an increase in hostile rhetoric that could lead to a real clash," the diplomat said.
Chaly added that while Russia uses North Korean missiles on the territory of Ukraine, the DPRK uses it as a training ground to improve these weapons for its theater of operations. North Korea is preparing for war.
