Latvia strengthens border security with mobile air defense units following Russian Shahed drone crash
After the incident with the downing of a Russian attack drone in Latvia, the country's Defense Ministry announced the deployment of mobile air force combat groups equipped with air defense systems along the border
Delfi reports.
As noted, after a Russian drone crashed in the Rezekne region in early September, the Latvian National Armed Forces strengthened air defense on the eastern border by sending additional units.
For example, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds said that mobile air force battle groups equipped with air defense missiles have been deployed in Latgale. In addition, special radars designed to detect unmanned aerial vehicles have been installed on the border.
“Air defense operations are provided by both professional military personnel and national defense soldiers,” Spruds said.
