EU allocates EUR 1.5 billion in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine
The EU will allocate another EUR 1.5 billion in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine to support public services and infrastructure
The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced the information.
"Today we disburse another EUR 1.5 bn for Ukraine in macro-financial assistance," the statement said.
The assistance is aimed at public services and infrastructure of Ukraine.
"More will come. We just proposed steady financial support until 2027. We are in it for the long haul," von der Leyen added.
EU assistance
Every month since the start of the full-scale invasion, the EU has been providing macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.
The most recent was when on April 25, the EU allocated another tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine for EUR 1.5 billion.
Also, on May 5, the EU Council decided to allocate EUR 1 billion for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine under the European Peace Fund.
On May 23, the European Commission disbursed a new EUR 1.5 billion tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. The funds were used to pay salaries, pensions and repair critical infrastructure.
The last aid was a package of sanctions against Russia, which provides for the elimination of loopholes that help it circumvent previously imposed restrictions. It was agreed by EU ambassadors on June 21.
