Do not believe assumptions to avoid disappointment
I noticed that a lot of "encouraging" manipulative messages appeared in the informational space
Information is being spread, in which the news is presented as positive and encouraging, but this is manipulation, because these are assumptions, not facts. "Ukraine may receive", "the opening of ammunition production in Ukraine is being discussed", "a country may be ready to provide Ukraine with aircraft", "Switzerland is expected to agree…”
This is an old manipulation trick. Many people, wanting to find the positive in difficult and challenging times, ignore the words of assumption and perceive this information as an announcement of what we will get. The media, bloggers, and politicians understand this and spread such information to draw attention to themselves. And then everything happens the other way around, Ukrainians are disappointed, and some people develop distrust of their partners. Such manipulations are dangerous.
“Over time, we will get weapons. All the weapons we need to defeat Russia. We will get them without any assumptions. Unfortunately, we cannot get supplied with critical thinking that would allow us to change our attitude to information”
Yes, sometimes such messages become real announcements of weapons supply, but these are rather exceptions. I remember very well how such announcements fueled the belief that Eastern European countries would give us almost 100 aircraft. And then it didn't happen, and there was disappointment among Ukrainians who believed the media reports and ignored the words of the assumption.
Over time, we will get weapons. All the weapons we need to defeat Russia. We will get them without any assumptions. Unfortunately, we cannot be supplied with critical thinking, that would allow us to change our attitude to information. And we will not get a cure for the hype the media, bloggers, and politicians love to exploit to attract attention. So we have to deal with these problems on our own. I hope that this will happen over time.
