Details of negotiations between heads of Defense Ministries of Ukraine and France
On December 28, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov held a meeting with his colleague, the Armed Forces Minister of France, Sébastien Lecornu, as part of his visit to Ukraine.
Press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.
"Today, we emphasized the list of priorities for Ukraine to win this war. It concerns air, anti-missile, anti-drone defenses to protect our skies, increasing the number of 155-caliber heavy artillery and ammunition. After all, powerful CAESAR guns used on the battlefield need high-quality projectiles. We also need armored vehicles to protect personnel. In addition, we have agreed on the start of a new training program for our Air Force officers to prepare and master the new air defense system, which we will announce later," Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said.
Sébastien Lecornu emphasized that he admires the resilience and strength of Ukrainian soldiers' spirit and announced the creation of a new fund in France, through which Ukraine can place orders for French military equipment.
"Ukrainian people and Ukrainian Armed Forces are the real examples of resilience and fortitude. We discussed the military needs of Ukraine for the coming weeks and 2023. France has chosen several directions to help Ukraine. First, it is the transfer of equipment from the French Armed Forces to the Ukrainian army at the beginning of next year. The second direction of aid is the European Peace Fund, which is an important tool, force and power of Europe to support Ukraine. France makes a large contribution to this Fund - 500 million euros. And the third direction is a newly created fund in France, through which Ukraine can address the order to French military industry," the French minister said.
Therefore, the issue of the rehabilitation of Ukrainian servicemen in French medical facilities and the initiation of long-term projects with French defense companies were also discussed.
Interlocutors also touched on the issues of the accounting systems and transparency of military aid. A briefing on the implementation of the LOGFAS logistics system was presented to representatives of the foreign delegation.
