German Chancellor Olaf Scholz addressed citizens on New Year's eve. In his speech he emphasized that Germany would support Ukraine in its war with Russia

"Putin did not seize Ukraine in a few days, as he planned. On the contrary: Ukrainians bravely defend their homeland - including thanks to our help. And we will continue to support Ukraine," head of the German government stressed.
In his New Year's address to the citizens, Olaf Scholz noted that 2022 "was marked by unity and strength," and during the war in Ukraine, "European Union and NATO showed solidarity not seen for a long time."
The Chancellor also mentioned Germany's assistance to the refugees from Ukraine. According to him, 29 million volunteers helped Ukrainians this year.
