Approval of anti-corruption program is main requirement for Ukraine on way to EU membership - head of the Public Council at National Agency on Corruption Prevention
The head of the Public Council at the National Agency on Corruption Prevention, Kateryna Butko, said that the main demand from the European Union to Ukraine is the adoption and approval of the anti-corruption strategy and program
She told about this on the air of the Espreso TV channel
"Despite the war, we do not need to forget about carrying out reforms. In particular, this also applies to anti-corruption reforms. This is a very important component on the way to the European Union. Ukraine received a number of requirements that we must fulfil in order to become a member of the EU. One of the main requirements from the EU is the adoption and approval of the anti-corruption strategy, which our parliamentarians blocked for almost two years," Butko explained
The head of the Public Council at the National Agency on Corruption Prevention also stressed the importance of adopting the state anti-corruption program.
"The anti-corruption strategy is a more general document that lasts for two years. Therefore, a general State anti-corruption program must be adopted. It is a program of very clear steps that each of the state bodies of Ukraine must take in the fight against corruption. They are clear and specific. For example, the State anti-corruption program includes an open competition for the Prosecutor General," she added.
