A full-fledged offensive requires thorough preparation - Defense Express Chief Editor Katkov
Preparation for a successful military offensive has several components that work together as one system
Oleg Katkov, editor-in-chief of Defense Express, said this on Espreso.
"Each weapon unit changes the situation at the front. The problem is that, for example, with the help of HIMARS, you will not go on the attack. In order to go on a full-fledged offensive, you need to do a set of things immediately. HIMARS is only one of the elements that is intended for "to soften" the enemy's rear, he noted.
Katkov told the components needed to go on the offensive.
"Form a full-fledged armored unit, for example, a tank unit. It must be covered by artillery. All this must be covered by aircraft from the air, because let’s not forget about a large number of Russian enemy aircraft. The number of strike aircraft in the Russian Federation is 10-12 times more than was in Ukraine for 2021. When the complex is working, there are tanks, and artillery, and highly accurate HIMARS. When all this is covered from an air attack, when our aviation can provide air support, then this is a combined military battle and a successful offensive," the expert concluded.
