Trump erodes trust in America
Populists vary
Some are quite lucky and talented, like Trump. Others are inadequate and useless, like Zelenskyy or Maduro. However, they all share one common trait - irresponsibility.
The leader pledging to restore America's greatness is presently inflicting irreparable harm on his country.
The world's largest economy has diverse interests spanning various industries, from energy and microchips to cotton, essential for gunpowder and largely monopolized by China.
Unions, critical for the economic security of the United States, rely on trust in strategic partners. Trump's actions regarding military aid to Ukraine have significantly eroded this trust, along with America's standing.
Not only developing nations but also some nominally democratic ones, such as Hungary or Slovakia, are increasingly turning to the more predictable China (or BRICS in general). The USA's influence in Europe is already at an unprecedented low. I can only imagine the repercussions if Trump is re-elected.
Moreover, this decline may not stem from any coherent ideology but rather from politicking and power struggles.
P.S. I'm not among those who solely criticize Trump; I recognize some of his significant past achievements. However, in my view, his irresponsibility tips the scales of harm versus benefit for the country into negative territory.
