NATO taking all necessary steps to ensure Ukraine's victory, membership — NATO Assistant Secretary General
Marie-Doha Besancenot, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, said this during the 10th Kyiv Security Forum for Youth, organized by the Open Ukraine Foundation
She noted that the new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte paid his first visit to Ukraine, and later convened a summit of NATO defense ministers, which was attended by the President of Ukraine.
According to her, the Alliance Secretary General emphasized three priorities. The first is to continue investing in the defense of NATO member states. The second is to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression and to support its ability to produce its own weapons. The third is the growth of global challenges to Euro-Atlantic security.
Ukraine will undoubtedly become a member of NATO, as all Alliance members have affirmed this in previous summits, she emphasized.
Marie-Doha Besancenot also said that a NATO command had been established to coordinate support and training for Ukraine, and that at least €40 billion of military aid to Ukraine had been agreed at the EU level for the next year.
NATO Assistant Secretary General Marie-Doha Besancenot also highlighted the importance of studying Ukraine’s combat experience, noting that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are demonstrating “real miracles on the battlefield.” She specifically pointed to new technologies, such as Sea Baby drones and others, that are significantly altering the course of hostilities.
She stated that the Russian Black Sea Fleet had been completely put out of action and noted that Ukraine continued to independently develop other technologies, including electronic signal jamming. She added that modern technologies and innovations were transforming the future of warfare.
Welcoming the participants of the youth forum, the NATO Assistant Secretary General expressed hope that the young generation of Ukrainians - the generation of war - will become a generation of winners.
This year's Kyiv Security Forum for Youth takes place on October 31-November 1.
