OSCE recognizes Russia's actions in Ukraine as genocide
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly passed a resolution recognizing Russia's actions as genocide against the Ukrainian people and calling for the decolonization of the Russian Federation
A member of the parliamentary delegation, Pavlo Frolov, reported this via the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine's press service.
"On the opening day of the summer session in Bucharest, the OSCE PA adopted a resolution condemning Russia's 10-year armed aggression against Ukraine. It recognized the military-political leadership's actions during the full-scale invasion as genocide against the Ukrainian people," the statement reads.
The resolution also states that decolonization of the Russian Federation is essential for lasting peace.
Specifically, the resolution urges the 53 OSCE participating States to support efforts to de-occupy Crimea and all occupied Ukrainian territories by backing the Peace Formula and the Crimean Platform. It calls for the establishment of a Special Tribunal to prosecute Russia for crimes committed during the war against Ukraine and for investigations into mass atrocities, murders, and rapes by the Russian army at both international and national levels.
- Petro Andryushchenko, the adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, added that the International Criminal Court might investigate Russia for causing famine and civilian deaths in Mariupol.
