Friedrich Merz made this statement on an ARD TV program, as reported by Deutsche Welle.
Merz argued that Germany should help Ukraine regain control over its airspace.
“These missile attacks on infrastructure, power and water supply, hospitals, and homes for the elderly can't be stopped from the ground,” Merz emphasized.
He also mentioned that several EU countries have already decided to supply combat aircraft to Kyiv.
“We Germans cannot stand aside,” Merz stressed.
- Recently, the German ambassador to Ukraine announced that Kyiv has received the third Patriot anti-aircraft missile system from Berlin.
