We are working on providing Ukraine with air defense systems: White House comments on Germany's refusal to transfer Patriots to Ukraine
The US authorities are working on strengthening the air defense system of Ukraine, although they cannot confirm the provision of advanced air defense systems.
The speaker of the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, informed about this during the briefing, RBK-Ukraine informs.
She was asked to comment on the agreement between Berlin and Warsaw on the placement of Patriot systems in Poland
In response, she noted that the authorities of Poland and Germany should comment on this, but added that in general, the US "welcome Allied efforts to bolster NATO’s collective defenses."
"We’re in close contact with Ukrainians about their security assistance needs, and have been working to provide Ukraine with air defense systems to help them protect their country. But I don’t have anything on that particular issue," she said.
On November 21, Berlin offered Warsaw the Patriot anti-missile defense system after a missile fell in Poland during a Russian attack on Ukraine the previous week, as a result of which two people died.
Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on November 23 that he had asked Germany to send the Patriot to Ukraine instead.
