Wars in Ukraine and Middle East are linked – Blinken
U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken believes that the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East are linked through mutual assistance between Iran and Russia
Blinken said this during opening remarks before the Senate Appropriations Committee On “A Review of the National Security Supplemental Request”.
"The conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East have clear links," he said in a statement.
According to him, Russia is increasingly seeking military assistance from Iran. In turn, Moscow offers the country its own advanced military technologies that pose a threat to Israel's security.
“Since we cut off Russia’s traditional means of supplying its military, it’s turned more and more to Iran for assistance. In return, Moscow has supplied Iran with increasingly advanced military technology, which poses a threat to Israel’s security.
Allowing Russia to prevail with Iran’s support will simply embolden both Moscow and Iran.” Blinken added.
The Secretary of State noted that the West's strategies are working, so adversaries are doing everything possible to prevent them. According to him, many are once again betting that the United States will lose its united position or be distracted by internal problems.
Blinken explained that Biden's request for military assistance to Ukraine and Israel at the same time should prevent this.
