War veterans aren't 'magic button' for post-war changes

The claim that “the guys will come back and restore order” is infantile and manipulative, and there is nothing behind it at all. Moreover, for all participants in this discourse

Firstly, it is logical that the guys are now dealing with the external enemy, and they will not have the strength and inspiration to restore order inside the country.

Secondly, these guys are not from outer space. They are part of Ukrainian society and all lived here before the war. And all of them together, fighting and non-fighting, could not restore order. And even if they could, the level of order was not high.

“These guys are not from outer space. They are part of Ukrainian society and all lived here before the war. And all of them together, fighting and non-fighting, could not restore order. And even if they could, the level of order was not high.”

Thirdly, it is another expectation of a 'magic button', an attempt to shift responsibility and expectations that someone from the outside will solve our problems. This case was vividly demonstrated by the news about the American audit of our expenses. Everyone was happy that they had come and put things in order. Finally.

The absence of decent order in our country lies in our average dishonesty and passivity and unwillingness to take a personal part in shaping order. Volunteers taught Ukrainian society a wonderful trick that became a salvation and at the same time played a cruel joke on us and our future. They taught people how to give money to good causes, and by doing so, they gave Ukrainians an indulgence from everything else. “What do you want from me? I give money to the army.” Ukrainians have learned to give money to do nothing, and giving money has automatically become a social activity, an act of civic duty.

“Volunteers taught Ukrainian society a wonderful trick that became a salvation and at the same time played a cruel joke on us and our future. They taught people how to give money to good causes, and by doing so, they gave Ukrainians an indulgence from everything else.”

If the world were to have a Restoration of Order Fund, Ukrainians would gladly give money to it. They would give hundreds of billions of dollars, sincerely and enthusiastically. But since such a fund does not exist, it is not clear what to do and who should restore order.

The money is there, but there is no one to donate it to.

Oh, sh*t.
