US sends inspectors to Ukraine to assess damage to Patriot system
The US has sent inspectors to Ukraine to assess the condition of the Patriot air defense system, which may have been damaged by the Russian missile attack
This was reported by three US officials to CNN.
According to one of the officials, the air defense system sustained minor damage.
Sources claim that the system itself is still working, and the Patriot radar component, which is one of its most important elements, was not damaged. US officials do not think that Patriot will need to be removed from the battlefield for repairs.
A complete Patriot battery has six main components: generators, radar, control station, antennas, launcher, and interceptor missiles. The components work together to launch a Patriot missile and successfully guide it to its target.
“It is not clear what part of the Patriot was damaged or if it was damaged by an actual missile strike or falling debris,” the publication notes.
