US prepares new $1.2 billion military aid package to Ukraine
On May 9, the United States will provide Ukraine with a new package of military aid worth $1.2 billion to strengthen air defense, provide artillery shells, spare parts, and intelligence
This is reported by AP.
According to sources, the package includes drones, artillery shells and missiles for air defense systems, as well as HAWK air defense systems. It will be announced on Tuesday, May 9.
It will also include missiles, satellite imagery, funding for ongoing maintenance, and spare parts for various types of equipment, officials said.
According to American officials, in view of this package, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the United States has already provided Ukraine with military aid worth almost $37 billion.
The assistance will be provided within the framework of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which provides Ukraine with security needs in the long term. Unlike American equipment, weapons and ammunition, which are more often sent to Ukraine from Pentagon warehouses so that they can be delivered quickly, this money must be spent in the coming months or even years to support Ukraine's future security needs.
