US military in Ukraine is not involved in combat operations – White House
The US administration strongly denies the participation of US military personnel in the fighting in Ukraine
The statement was made on Friday during a telephone briefing by White House Security Council Coordinator John Kirby, Ukrinform reports.
“The US military personnel currently present in Ukraine are neither taking part in combat operations nor are in the field with the Ukrainians," the Biden administration official emphasized.
In this way, he answered the question whether the current US administration adheres to the position announced from the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion that the US military would not be involved in combat operations.
At the same time, Kirby noted that there are a small number of US military personnel in Ukraine who guard the US Embassy in Kyiv and represent the US Defense Attaché Office in Ukraine.
"What I can assure you is that none of them [US troops] are involved in combat operations or in the field with Ukrainian soldiers," Kirby emphasized.
President Joe Biden has made it clear that US troops will not be fighting in Ukraine, Kirby said.
"They haven't and they won't," he added.
