US doesn't want Ukraine to destabilize Russia, international expert Dubovyk says
The US does not want Ukraine to do things that will destabilize or disintegrate Russia or push Putin to radical military action
Volodymyr Dubovyk, director of the Center for International Studies, said this on Espreso TV.
“On the one hand, if Ukraine wins, then it is necessary to give more weapons, and they do. On the other hand, they do not want Ukraine to win as well and Russia to suffer a total and crushing defeat, which would drive Putin into a corner. In which he would think about using weapons of mass destruction,” he said.
In his opinion, Putin has completely lost the remnants of rationality as a person in international politics.
“Everything can be expected, as he doesn't like to lose. He doesn't know how to lose. Maybe he will make a bigger escalation, and then NATO and the US will be forced to intervene and already strike the Russian army in Ukraine if nuclear weapons are used,” Dubovyk believes.
He added that America does not want Ukraine to humiliate the Russian Federation.
“America here is balancing between the fact that Ukraine needs to be supported and provided with new weapons. On the other hand, they do not want to push Ukraine to do things that will be too humiliating for the Russian Federation. They will cause the destabilization or disintegration of Russia or push Putin and his entourage to some radical military actions that we have not seen in this war,” the expert concluded.
