Ukrainian hospitals work in extreme conditions due to constant power outages
On the air of the Spotlight Ukraine program, MD, PhD, Ukrainian surgeon Hnat Herych told how Ukrainian doctors work during power outages
This is reported on Spotlight Ukraine | Espreso TV Channel.
The chief of the surgery department of the Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital of Emergency and Intensive Care says that Ukrainian doctors are forced to work in extremely difficult conditions due to blackouts caused by Russian attacks.
“It's a big challenge for Ukraine and especially for the Ukrainian healthcare system, because we have problems with the infrastructure and the electricity supply. Currently, the largest hospitals in Ukraine have generators, but it takes time for them to start working,” he said.
Hnat Herych emphasized that in addition to generators, a lot of other equipment is needed, due to the fact that “every day there are a lot of victims, both among the military and civilians.” That is why Ukraine desperately needs Western aid with the provision of medicines and special equipment for complex operations.
