Zelenskyy seeks bilateral agreement with Hungary to secure NATO accession support
President Zelenskyy expressed Ukraine's desire to establish a bilateral document with Hungary aimed at resolving misunderstandings and addressing historical and present challenges. Part of the dialogue involves security matters, specifically Ukraine's NATO accession
The president said this on October 31 in Zakarpattia, according to Suspilne.
“A bilateral document is being prepared today. We would very much like to have a bilateral document between Ukraine and Hungary. There are many things in it. To remove misunderstandings or some challenges of the present, future and historical. To avoid raising the issue of minorities,” Zelenskyy said.
He noted that part of the bilateral dialogue and the document is security issues, namely Ukraine's accession to NATO. Ukraine asks Hungary not to block the invitation to join the Alliance.
“That is, not to support us, not to vote for us, but not to block us. Today, this item is in our proposals, and we would very much like Hungary not to block even this item. It is important for us,” the President added.
He also noted that Hungary is one of the countries that can partially block Ukraine's Victory Plan. According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainians will pass any blockade of Hungary, but “I want Ukraine to go to victory without blockades from its neighbors, but rather with their help.”
