Ukraine’s Trembita missile could strain Russia’s air defense, disrupt logistics
The Ukrainian Trembita cruise missile, created by volunteers, is cheaper than those used by air defense systems. However, it can be quite effective
Valerii Riabykh, director of the Defense Express Media and Consulting company, commented on the new development on Espreso TV.
“Volunteers play an important role in the defense and security in Ukraine. This volunteer group, which has some experience in missile technology, has proposed its own version of the missile. As far as I understood, they use unconventional methods to set it in motion - it could be a pulse engine. Judging by the idea, they are powerful,” he said.
According to Riabykh, in order to win in confrontation with Russia, Ukrainians need to put a strain on Russia's air defense system, among other things.
“The missile offered by the volunteers is much cheaper than those used by air defense systems. It is low-tech enough to be produced by handicrafts. However, it can be quite effective - when charged, it can weigh up to 100 kg and carry 20 kg of explosives, hitting targets at a distance of up to 140 kg. The idea is that such missiles are cheap and can be used to strike targets at operational depth. For example, to disrupt logistics. And, for example, to put a strain on Russia’s air defense systems, which are not effective enough,” the expert believes.
