Ukraine victory is important, Johnson tells Trump
Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has spoken with former US President Donald Trump about the importance of Ukraine's victory in the war unleashed by Russia
Sky News reports that Boris Johnson, one of Ukraine's most prominent backers, made the remarks at a meeting in the United States with the former Republican president, who is campaigning for re-election in 2024.
It comes after Trump hesitated to say he wanted Ukraine to win the war during a recent CNN town hall.
He stated at the time that he did not consider winning and losing.
“I want everybody to stop dying. They’re dying. Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying,” the former US president said.
He also refused to commit to continuing to provide military help to Ukraine if he wins the presidential election in 2024.
“We’re giving away so much equipment, we don’t have ammunition for ourselves right now,” he emphasized.
Donald Trump has already stated that Russia's February 2022 invasion “would not have happened” if he were in office
