Ukraine to have its own cruise, ballistic missiles by 2025
Ukraine is working on its own cruise and ballistic missiles, which could be in service with the Defense Forces as early as 2025
Oleksiy Petrov, director of the Spetstechnoexport state enterprise, said this in an interview with OBOZ.UA.
He noted that he has already seen flight tests of domestic missiles and "there are results.”
"I would say that the government and, finally, the private sector are moving in this direction. And it was a smart decision to remove the monopoly on the missile industry. So I think that we will have our own missiles, such as cruise and ballistic missiles, by mid-2025," said Oleksiy Petrov.
He also noted that Ukraine is currently developing its own production, including private production. In particular, it is the production of 155-mm NATO-standard shells that can operate at “a fairly favorable distance to fight the enemy.”
"In addition, Ukrainian state-owned companies are trying to restore or expand the production of ammunition of the Soviet standard, which, unfortunately, we cannot get rid of yet. A 152-mm round that flies 30 kilometers is extremely necessary, as well as 122-mm rounds. They are in constant shortage because they were used in large quantities by the Defense Forces," Petrov added.
- In late August, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had successfully tested its first indigenously produced ballistic missile.
