Forest fire destroys village in Kharkiv region, four people burned alive
In the Kharkiv region, a forest fire burned down a village, killing four people and destroying over 1,000 houses
Serhiy Bolvinov, the head of the Kharkiv Police Investigation Department, said this.
Bolvinov said that the fire came from the Donetsk region: it spread from the village of Rubtsi to Borivske forestry. The fire engulfed the Chervonooskilskyi landscape park and then began to approach the village of Pisky-Radkivski.
"An entire village burned down - more than a thousand houses were destroyed by a forest fire. Four people were burned alive. Two displaced women, one local woman, and one man. They simply did not have time to escape - the flames were spreading at a frantic pace," the statement says.
In addition, two people were burned. About 1,100 wooden houses burned in and near the forest. So far, sixty people have been evacuated from the fire.
An investigation into the circumstances of the fire is underway. Bolvinov believes that the forest in the Donetsk region could have caught fire because of Russian shelling.
- Earlier in the Kharkiv region, almost half of the village of Studenok burned down in a fire. Three hundred and eight houses were destroyed or damaged by the fire.
