To maintain stable relations with Russia - South Korea explains position on weapons to Ukraine
Official Seoul does not go beyond humanitarian support for Kyiv in order to maintain stable relations with Moscow. The statement of the South Korean president about the possibility of supplies was hypothetical
This was stated by the South Korean presidential administration, Yonhap reports.
"We are not doing this because at the same time that South Korea is actively supporting the international community to protect the freedom of Ukrainian citizens, we must maintain stable relations with Russia," he said.
The official emphasized that the recent statement by President Yoon Suk-yeol on the possibility of military assistance to Ukraine was "hypothetical."
There are no changes in South Korea's policy on this issue," the administration added. At the same time, there are no prohibitions in the current legislation on providing military assistance to a warring state.
