Switzerland provides Ukraine with over EUR 1.2 million for training and demining equipment
Switzerland will help Ukraine with mine clearance by donating a special remote-controlled vehicle and providing training for specialists
This is stated in the report of the Federal Council of Switzerland.
Switzerland has donated a demining machine designed and manufactured by the Swiss Digger Foundation to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. It is a remote-controlled tracked vehicle the size of a small bulldozer. It can destroy or detonate anti-personnel mines with a cutter, neutralizing them.
In addition to the demining machine, Switzerland is also providing Ukraine with a truck, trailer and a set of spare parts for three years. Ukrainian deminers will also be trained on-site by Digger Foundation experts.
The entire assistance package of about CHF 1.2 million (over EUR 1.2 million) will be financed by a loan to the Ukrainian Armed Forces to upgrade personal equipment and machinery. Switzerland's contribution is aimed at making humanitarian demining in Ukraine safer and more effective.
The truck transportation of the demining machine and spare parts to Ukraine, as well as on-site training by the Digger Foundation, are scheduled for September.
