Sweden will train Ukrainian pilots to fly Jas 39 Gripen fighters
Sweden has decided to train Ukrainian pilots to fly Jas 39 Gripen fighter jets as part of the 12th package of support for Kyiv. Financial assistance has also been allocated.
On May 16, this was announced in Stockholm.
The government has decided on a new support package for Ukraine, worth approximately SEK 250 million.
SEK 140 million will be allocated through the British International Fund for Ukraine, which is used to train and purchase military equipment for Ukraine.
"The government has also announced the allocation of SEK 90 million to the NATO Ukraine Support Fund (Trust Fund for the Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine). The purpose of the fund is to purchase defense equipment, fuel, medical equipment, military training equipment and support the strengthening and modernization of Ukraine's defense and security institutions," the statement said.
"The armed forces have been tasked with training Ukrainian pilots and related aviation personnel on the JAS 39," Stockholm added.
