Russian 'kamikaze' drones fly over ZNPP nuclear reactors - Ukrainian intelligence
Ukrainian intelligence units have recorded the use of 'kamikaze' drones by Russians over the nuclear reactors of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP)
The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) reports.
"The video from the enemy's fpv drone, obtained with the help of electronic intelligence, contains the UT4D.TT marking, which indicates that the drone was supplied to the invading forces by the Russian Defense Ministry," the HUR said.
Ukrainian intelligence also recorded that the flight path of the Russian 'kamikaze' drone was flying over the power units of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in the direction of the Ukrainian-controlled Nikopol and Marhanets communities, which are under constant Russian attacks.
Near the sixth reactor of the plant, the Russians have equipped launch pads for their UAVs.
"In addition, since the summer of 2023, the territory of the seized nuclear power plant has been used by the Russians to train fpv drone pilots - this is done by the so-called Arkhangel school, which is funded by the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (formerly GRU)," Ukrainian intelligence officers said.
- On April 7, International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi announced three direct hits to the protective structures of the main reactor of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. The Russians accused the Ukrainian Armed Forces of the shelling. The representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Andriy Yusov, in turn, assured that Ukraine was not involved in "any armed provocations on the territory of the ZNPP illegally occupied by Russia." On April 9, EU High Representative Josep Borrell said that the occupation forces should leave the plant.
- On April 18, explosions were heard again at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The Russians claim that a drone attempted to attack the plant.
