Russian forces lack equipment for night warfare - UK intelligence
Russian forces have a shortage of equipment for night warfare: they lack night vision devices and special cameras for drones to conduct combat operations in the dark
This is stated in a report by the UK Defense Ministry.
The defense ministry reported that since the end of November 2023, there has been a trend of Russians conducting combat operations at night. However, social media users who are Russian soldiers claim that they have a shortage of night vision goggles and special cameras for drones to conduct combat operations at night. This equipment appears in the lists of needs of Russian soldiers.
At the same time, the Ukrainian military is receiving night vision devices from international partners. One of the Russian soldiers stationed in the Kherson region said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces “move mostly at night.”
“Russian military training has rarely emphasized night exercises, instead typically building towards set-piece, daylight events to impress visiting senior officers,” the intelligence said.
- Earlier, UK intelligence reported that over the past week, the Ukrainian military conducted a series of successful local counterattacks near the village of Stepove in the Avdiivka sector, while Russian troops are using Storm-Z punitive units to attack.
